Friends & Supporters

Help to encourage young artists at the start of their careers by becoming a friend or supporter of The Manchester Mid-day Concerts Society.

About the Friends of the Mid-days

The Manchester Mid-day Concerts Society is an independent charity that supports young musicians in the early stages of their careers. The Society’s mission is to encourage emerging artists by offering prestigious performance opportunities and quality, affordable daytime concerts within the city of Manchester.

The Society’s aims are still being fulfilled over 100 years since its creation and this has only been possible due to the continued help of our invaluable Friends and Supporters.

There are a number of ways you can help to support the Mid-days. Read on to find out how you can play an important part in ensuring that our concert series continues to encourage new talent and remains part of the musical landscape of Manchester.

Become a Friend of the Mid-days

Established over 25 years ago, the Friends of the Mid-days are a family of supporters who help to ensure the future of the Manchester Mid-day Concerts Society. Our Friends care about the Society’s mission, feel proud to support the musical heritage of the city, and are a group of people who enjoy coming to the Society’s concert series, annual auditions and other events organised throughout the year.

To become a Friend we have two suggested donation levels, starting from just £50 per year.

From £50 per year for individuals or from £85 for dual donations:

Receive two free concert vouchers per season per person, a complimentary ticket to the Friends’ sponsored concert and reception, an exclusive invitation to and chance to offer your input at the Society’s annual auditions at The Bridgewater Hall, an invitation to special events, a discount at the Bridgewater Hall shop, regular e-newsletters and accreditation in the season brochure and on our website.

The total cost of your donation can be made annually, or divided throughout the year, beginning from as little as £4.17 per month. The amounts listed are suggestions, and we do accept smaller and larger donations.

Single donations can be made online, or you can download an application form here to set up multiple donations or pay by cheque.

We also offer the opportunity for individuals or small organisations to support specific concerts or other areas of the Society’s work. Our Supporters play a vital role in helping the Society to achieve its ambitions. You can choose to support artists already engaged by the Society, or suggest artists that you would like to see perform as part of the series.

Sponsorship

We have two levels of support you might like to consider:

Supporter, from £500

For a donation of £500 or more you can support a concert of your choice within the Society’s forthcoming season. You will receive ten complimentary tickets to the performance you are choosing to support. You will also receive an invitation to the Society’s annual auditions, regular e-newsletters, invitations to special events, and your name alongside the listing for your concert in our concert brochure, on our website, in the concert programme and announced on-stage prior to the performance.

Associate, from £1000

For a donation of £1000 or more you can support a concert of your choice within the Society’s forthcoming season, or suggest an artist and help to devise a concert in association with the Society. You will receive thirty complimentary tickets to the performance you are choosing to support. You will also receive an invitation to the Society’s annual auditions, regular e-newsletters, invitations to special events, and your name alongside the listing for your concert in our concert brochure, on our website, in the concert programme and announced on-stage prior to the performance.

If you would like to entertain guests before or after the performance, The Bridgewater Hall has a number of private spaces available and we can put you in touch with the right teams at the Hall who will be able to help.

Please contact Alice Beckwith to discuss ways in which you can support major areas of the Society’s work.

Leave a Legacy or Dedicate a Concert

Remember the Manchester Mid-day Concerts Society in your will and leave your own musical legacy for future generations, or pledge a concert in memory as a gift, for a fitting way to celebrate a loved one’s enjoyment of classical music in Manchester.

Leaving a gift to the Society is easy to arrange and is one of the most flexible ways of giving. Please contact Alice Beckwith to discuss the ways in which you can pledge support in this meaningful way.
